What is a PDF? Portable Document Format. This is what Adobe Acrobat Reader is for; to read these types of documents. They are a read-only document which you cannot edit without special software.
You can easily convert any document, invoice or other printable thing you can think of into a PDF file for others to view and not easily edit. It also makes it easy for your intended recipients to view the file without having to have the same program as you.
